Graduate student earns sixth White House volunteer service award

˿AV Master of Business Administration (MBA) student Michael Garcia (BBA 2018) has
received the White House President’s Volunteer Service Award for the sixth consecutive
year, an ˿AV record. He completed 102.25 community service hours for the 2019-20
academic year.
“Last year, I became the first ˿AV student to receive five consecutive presidential awards and the first to receive a gold medal award,” Garcia said. “This year, I broke my own record.”
Since 2014, Garcia has completed 807.5 community service hours, first as an ˿AV undergraduate student and now as a graduate student. He is scheduled to earn his MBA in May 2021.
